In our lab, we primarily research novel imaging strategies to visualize specific targets and/or biological events in cell and animal models. We utilize chemical and biological tools to develop early diagnostic methods and therapeutic agents for diseases. Our recent research projects are centered on the following studies.
1. In vivo tracking of hazardous substances utilizing molecular imaging tools
We investigate the biodistribution and in vivo behavior of toxic substances such as PHMG, CMIT/MIT, particulate matter, and microplastics using radiolabeling strategies and nuclear imaging. This research aims to quantify their uptake in living organisms, assess their physiological effects, and uncover previously unknown toxicities.
2. Development of molecular imaging probes
We are conducting research on the development of new fluorescent materials and radiotracers for diagnosing severe diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Additionally, we are synthesizing nano-aggregation probes for imaging enzyme activity related to the manifestation of these diseases and conducting animal imaging studies.
3. Design and synthesis of new drug candidates
We are synthesizing natural product derivatives and synthetic drug candidates through various organic reactions. Recent projects include the development of anti-inflammatory agents derived chrysin derivatives and the synthesis of new anti-tuberculosis agents using isoniazid conjugates.
